In contrast to the lawn mower project, this module is focused on the functionality of a mechanical object. We formed groups of four, each consisting of three industrial designers and one mechanical engineer from ETH. The task was simple: Create a mechanical product with a functional prototype model as an endresult.
after a long phase to form groups my team started out by finding a product that we wanted to improve. We finally decided to create a bike trailer wich connects fast and easy to any bike without a counterpart on the frame needed.
During the process we had to cut the project down to the coupling, due to difficulties to define the basic mechanism. Our final prototype still requires a lot of engineering and designing, but the basic mechanism works fine and solves the problem with the counterpart on the bike. It also seems suitable to be used as a bike trailer coupling.
